If you were to ask people to name an animal that embodies Courage, they may list a lion or a bear, but probably not a bluebird. Because our choice may seem strange, we wanted to give you some background on why we chose a songbird, rather than an animal associated with the more traditional idea of Courage.
We chose the bluebird as a symbol for Courage for two reasons.
First, we felt that the bluebird best embodied the Cerra definition of Courage—having the strength to speak your truth to benefit yourself and others, even in the face of adversity. A bluebird can often be found with its chest puffed out, proudly singing its own song, much in the same way that we hope that you will use your voice to stand up for what you believe in.
In addition, Cerra goes beyond the traditional definition of Courage that celebrates physical strength or bravery. We believe Courage also includes strength of character, so we chose an animal that is delicate, yet has a large impact with its voice.
Second, we were drawn to the bluebird’s color. Cerra is inspired by Eastern Philosophy and guided by Western Psychology, so we recognized the blue color of the Lapis lazuli stone in the wings of the bluebird. In Eastern Philosophy, the Lapis Lazuli energizes the throat chakra, augmenting strength, vitality, mental clarity and communication. For many people around the world, the Lapis Lazuli is considered a stone that symbolizes universal truth and friendship.
Together, we felt the bluebird was the perfect way to symbolize Courage, a delicate creature that changes the world with its voice, and calls to mind the feelings of strength, truth and friendship.

I love the idea of the Bluebird being a symbol of courage!
They are my favorite kind of bird, next to the hummingbird. I love it when they come here for the spring and summer. We have a lovely pair, and they are exciting to see and watch.Blue is also my favorite color! Courage is a good example, because they seem to not be intimidated by the larger or different birds that come to the feeder. It brings me such joy to watch them enjoy the birdbath!
I like the symbolism of the bluebird with having a voice. It takes true courage to speak your voice, especially when it may not be the majority idea.Living authentically.
I like your choice. A bluebird is often overlooked but very fitting to this blog. Thank you for your different but bold choice for courage.
I love this! I have a sister -in -law, she is a very strong woman. When I think of her I think of courage and strength. I have been looking for a lapis lazuli bracelet for her for a very long time. I haven’t found the perfect one yet, so I have tried to find the perfect stone to make one. I would have to say, I am drawn to woman who embody the spirit of the bluebird. I guess my sister-in-law Tina is my bluebird!
